For this question I went with watching Will Smith's incredible performance in I Am Legend. While I really only intended to watch the first 10 minutes to reflect on the inciting incident, I couldn't help but continue on and watch the entire film.
Besides that, I was watching the film to try and determine if the film responds more to Batty or Field's Models of Scriptwriting. It's difficult to go with one or the other because the plot is based on one individual character, with few others to interact with. I would go with saying that in the first 10 minutes of the film follows Field's model.
The film itself follows Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville, and progresses through his life within a post-apocalyptic New York City. Just as in Field's model the film does not necessarily have formulated plot points, but rather some minor incidents throughout Neville's life that sometimes escalate towards greater issues. On that note, there are no real end points to each act because Neville's life is quite literally a journal that he documents day by day.
It is similar to Batty in that there is a great deal of character develompent and emotional components that take place, but the film does not contstrain to acts for which the action takes place.
Regardless as to which model one likes better, both parties can agree that the death of Sam was absolutely heartbreaking.
