* to make more than the mere earnings of a small farmer, Jacques sells many of his hops to brewerys in Ontario, which would cause many issues if people found out about it

* Jacques has a wife that is the envy of all the men in the village, but Jacques himself does not recognize her beauty

* he met her through their parents arranging a dowry for her name in marriage; where she was traded for three sheep and a nice winter coat

* Jacques has no attraction for his trophy of a wife, and instead has his eyes on the burly female farmer down the road

Biography

* Jacques is a skinny man in his mid-thirties

* he is extremely simple minded and dim-witted

* the only appealign feature about him is that he has facial hair to die for

* he grew up as a huge disappointment to his father, who after losing his wife could no longer tolerate his son and decided to leave town

* Meanwhile Jacques was too stupid to realize why is father left

* he has grown up working the farm alone with the farming education of an 10 year old boy, and in lieu of this his crops almost always dying

* his beautiful wife, who has an unexplainable and sincere love for her husband makes the family money as a successful bootlegger, and keeps it all in secret

* in his spare time, Jacques enjoys running in the slops with his pigs (this usually lasts at least 4 hours)
